Rising

This deeply moving documentary combines amazing archival footage and retrospective interviews to illuminate the heroic efforts of rescue and recovery performed by grassroots efforts and the phenomenal response of the team headed by beloved governor Andy Beshear during a devastating Kentucky flood. A film that leaves the viewer feeling hopeful and inspired by what people and government can do when they work together, and when elected officials truly care about – and serve – their constituents. ​

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​RISING, a documentary from Team Kentucky, tells the story of the strength and resilience of Eastern Kentuckians as they undertake the most ambitious rebuilding effort in the nation following the historic flooding that took place in the summer of 2022. From devastation to hope, this story chronicles how an idea became a reality as state, federal, and local partners work to build survivors new homes on abandoned coal mine sites – out of the floodplains and protected from future floods. RISING shows the world what is possible and proves that, by working together, we can rise above any challenge.​

Team Kentucky Emergency Relief Fund

Governor Andy Beshear established the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund after severe storms in February 2025. After the UPS plane crash in Louisville, the fund was expanded in purpose and is now called the Team Kentucky Emergency Relief Fund. The fund will assist those impacted by emergencies of all kinds, including future severe weather events in the commonwealth.
